 The Department of Economics was founded in May 2001. Now there are two majors for the undergraduate students: economics and public administration; two master
programs: political economy and national economics; seven teaching and research groups: political economy, western economics, national economics, industrial organization, regional economics, econometrics, and market supervision; and three research institutes: institutional economics, market economy, and regional economics and planning.
¡¡ The faculty team is of high quality. Now there are 28 faculty members, among whom there are 12 full professors and associate professors, accounting for 43%. One of the faculty members enjoys the Special Allowance of the State Council, one is entitled the Excellent Young and Middle-aged Expert of the Social Sciences, and one is entitled the 10-Moral Pacesetter of Teachers of Henan Province. There are 8 faculty members who either have doctor degrees or are on doctoral programs, and 16 have master degrees. These faculty members account for 86%. Most of the faculty members graduated from prestigious universities in China. Some faculty members have internationally academic backgrounds.
¡¡ The Department¡¯s motto is ¡°Far-reaching aspiration, and laying solid foundations for great successes.¡± In 10 years, the Department will try to form certain advantages in the fields of Henan economy, health economics and institutional economics. Now, all faculty and staff members unite and work hard for the goals of building the Department to be strong one with focuses on both teaching and research.
