The library of Henan University of Finance and Economics was founded in 1983. In 1989, the new library building was constructed (located on No 80.zhengzhou WenHua Street), with the total floor area of 7,466 square meters. The removal was also finished in the same year. In 1997, the library computer management LAN (Local Area Network) was built up. Today most of work is carried out by computer management.
The knowledge structure, age structure of our library staff members are basically reasonable, which has formed a colony advantage that relatively optimizes. Now there are 52 staff members in the library, among them 44 members have Academic credentials of junior college at or above, which accounts for 85 per cent of the total amount. The library have 7 members of high title, the intermediate professional title is 21 people. Their enthusiasm of learning and research is high. They have published over 200 theses and 20 works altogether. They have also finished above 14 subjects of provincial department level and win prize for many times.
　
　 Following the construction and development of the university, library people's hard cultivation, our library is growing up and has a big development. Based on the principle of teaching, scientific research and community service and combined with our university's teaching assignment, training task and subject installing, the library collects and supplies a variety of resources information. Currently , the library covers a rich collection of over 500,000 volumes, over 1,000 kinds of Chinese periodicals and 40 kinds of foreign original periodicals, 9,800 volumes of ancient books. In addition, there are over 55,000 kinds of electronic books, as well as 10 more kinds of databases. It has stressed the finance and economics characteristic and has formed a resource system with the characteristic of economy book collection. The library has set up 16 reading rooms, providing 952 seats, which opens to the public 101.5 hours a week. It has been fully functioning one of the university three pillars and students' second classroom. In addition, it has become not only an important part in teaching and research but also the resources information center in our university.

　 The library has experienced 20 years' hard process. With running the change of the library condition, the growth of staff and workers ranks, the improvement of personnel's quality, staff members is developing the spirit of Cooperation, living plainly and struggling hard and the library is foregoing ahead to the aim of building itself into a top-level university’s library inside the province.
